Rescheduling and Cancellation Policy
Last updated June 2025
Summary: switch to online or reschedule early instead of cancelling to avoid fees.
Switching to an online lesson is strongly encouraged over cancelling or rescheduling. All pupils have access to online lessons at any time.
There is no additional fee for switching to an online lesson at any time, including at short notice.
Online lessons must be paid for in advance. The lesson will not commence until payment is received. For occasional or one-off online lessons, this is most easily done by bank transfer. Email rs@rsmts.com for payment details.
Switching to online but failing to pay in advance or not attending will be considered a cancellation and the full cancellation fee will remain in effect. To avoid this, it is recommended that you pay at the same time as you request a switch to online.
Cancellations for any reason with less than 24 hours notice will incur a fee equivalent to the full lesson price.
However, if a mutually agreeable rescheduled time is found within 4 working days of the original scheduled lesson, the fee is reduced to 25%.
The standard lesson price still applies to a rescheduled lesson in addition to the late rescheduling fee (i.e. a rescheduled half-hour lesson still costs £20 in addition to the late rescheduling fee of £5).
If a reschedule is requested with less than 24 hours' notice but no mutually agreeable time can be found within 4 working days of the original lesson, the full cancellation fee remains in effect.
Rescheduling or cancelling with 24–48 hours’ notice:
a lesson rescheduled to within 4 working days incurs no fee.
a cancellation incurs a fee of 25% of the lesson price.
Rescheduling or cancelling with more than 48 hours’ notice incurs no fee but it is requested that you give as much advance notice as possible.
Missing a lesson with no prior notice (“no-show”) will incur a fee equivalent to the full lesson price.
Repeated no-shows or failure to pay promptly may result in termination of lessons.
All rescheduling and cancellation requests must be confirmed in writing (e.g. via email or text message).
